It takes a day or two just to unwind and let your senses adjust to the environment. Guests often arrive exhilarated but tired from the trip. We recommend at least a four or five day visit to get the full benefit our retreat has to offer.

~ explore the island by bike or on foot - Lasqueti roads are perfect for this, as there is very little traffic
~ watch the night sky from your deck or from the hot tub - the night sky is brilliant when you're this far from city lights
~ go for a night swim or paddle and discover the brilliant bioluminessence in the local waters

Guests have the place exclusively to themselves, prepare their own meals and attend to their own housekeeping. The accommodations are cozy, rustic, comfortable and very private.
The Beach House is right on the shore, with a self-contained suite which can accomodate up
to 4 guests.

The suite has its own kitchen, a full size fridge/freezer, a small propane range with oven, and all cookware, dishes, and place setttings.
Basic stock items (i.e., seasonings, dish soap) are provided.
Towels and bedding are provided. There is a shower in the suite, and
an outdoor solar shower at the rear of our house. We encourage visitors to bring their own towels
for the beach.
Our
toilet facilities are also rustic, with just a simple composting outhouse. We have no
inside toilet facilities. Another reason to remember to bring a flashlight....
- aside from Brigitte and Joseph's homestead, there are no other residences in the area.
Joseph or Brigitte may be around if you have any questions or special requests, but
guests are independent.
- we're open all year. our location is ideal for winter stormwatching
- pets are welcome: a word of caution, pets must be under control or on leash as we have free range
sheep and deer in the area. We do have a fenced yard.
- remember to bring a flashlight and a few extra batteries for each person in
your party. we do have electric power indoors, supplied by solar panels and
a water wheel.
- other island facilities: there are two small stores and a pub/restaurant/hotel in False Bay, at the ferry landing. a little further up the road is a charming little gift shop, a bakery, the Lasqueti Arts Centre, the Post Office and the Internet Center.
